A man tragically lost his life after falling into a sinkhole in Seoul's Gangdong district while riding his motorbike on Monday evening. The local fire department reported that rescuers discovered his body approximately 50 meters from the site of the accident on Tuesday morning. The sinkhole, measuring 20 meters wide and deep, captured public attention when a dashcam video circulated online showing the dramatic collapse that led to the man's fall.

Along with the man's body, authorities recovered his mobile phone and motorbike from within the sinkhole. A car caught in the vicinity was damaged, and its driver suffered injuries during the incident. Despite ongoing rescue operations, the cause of the sinkhole remains unidentified. Historically, Seoul has seen a spike in such occurrences—223 sinkholes reported in the past decade. Experts suggest that a combination of natural processes and human activities, such as excavation, can lead to these dangerous formations. International incidents related to similar sinkholes have also raised questions about safety protocols in urban planning.
