In brief
A deadly arson on Waterford’s Birch Avenue took the lives of Philip & Kim English and their children, Jayden and Callum. Police arrested four individuals, but three—two women and a man—were released without charge. Only a man in his twenties remains detained as investigation continues.
Three arrested in Waterford arson… released, no charges.
The blaze that destroyed Philip and Kim English’s home on Birch Avenue killed them and their children, Jayden (9) and Callum (12). It’s a heartbreaking reminder of fire safety in homes.
Police first charged a man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s, but those cases are still pending. The latest moves: two women in their 30s and a man in his 50s, arrested last Tuesday, were freed on Thursday because no evidence linked them to the fire.
A fourth suspect, a young man in his 20s, remains in custody as investigators work out the mystery.
The tragedy has sparked community vigils and a call for better fire safety checks. Stay tuned for updates on the investigation.
