NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Morgan Wallen, popular country music star, found himself in a legal mess after police charged him with reckless endangerment for allegedly throwing a chair off the rooftop of a Nashville bar in April 2024.
Footage obtained by the Associated Press shows Wallen denying the police allegations while being confronted about the incident. Despite his denial, witnesses insisted they saw him throw the chair, with some saying he laughed after doing so.
Shortly after his arrest, Wallen took to social media to apologize, stating he accepted responsibility and made amends with local law enforcement. In December, he pled guilty to two misdemeanor counts.
Throughout the incident, Wallen appeared calm, even joking with officers in the police cruiser as they discussed country music. His arrest occurred in a busy tourist area, drawing the attention of fans. While Wallen's music often celebrates carefree living, the incident starkly contrasts with his public image.
In a career marked by ups and downs, Wallen's rise to fame has included multiple hit songs, but now it also bears the weight of this controversy. The aftermath of this incident likely will have implications for his trajectory in the music industry moving forward.
