In brief
At ADIPEC 2026, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Energy teamed with H2G Green and other partners to assess LNG options for factories and businesses not yet connected to the gas grid. The aim is to diversify supply, boost reliability, and help firms switch to lower‑emission fuels. The collaboration could unlock up to AED1 billion in investment.
At the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2026), the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) signed an agreement with H2G Green Ltd, its subsidiary GasHubUnited Utility Private Ltd, MUZN Energy (a subsidiary of SERGAS Group), and CloudEnergi. The partnership will explore liquefied natural gas (LNG) solutions to supply industrial and commercial facilities that fall outside the emirate’s existing gas distribution network.
The DoE said the goal is to diversify energy supply options, improve reliability and support the transition of businesses to lower‑emission fuels. The cooperation framework also aims to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s energy security by identifying flexible supply solutions that can keep key industries running even when the main grid is not available.
According to the agreement, the parties will assess local production, transportation and distribution of LNG to meet the needs of industrial and commercial sites. The approach is meant to aid continuous business operations, support expansion, and reduce reliance on higher‑emission fuels.
The collaboration seeks to unlock potential investments of up to AED 1 billion, a figure cited by the WAM report. The funds would support the development of LNG supply systems, helping the emirate’s vital sectors meet their energy demands in line with sustainability goals.
By bringing together private‑sector partners and an enabling regulatory environment, the DoE and H2G Green plan to explore further opportunities to diversify and improve the efficiency of Abu Dhabi’s energy system. The partnership marks another step toward the emirate’s broader efforts to secure a reliable, low‑carbon energy future for industry and commerce.
