A recent ransomware attack on Blue Yonder, a vital supply chain management software provider, has created chaos for several major companies, including Starbucks and Morrisons, one of the biggest grocery chains in the UK. Blue Yonder reported experiencing significant disruptions that compromised its managed services, impacting payroll and employee scheduling across its client base.

With over 3,000 customers relying on its digital solutions for everyday operations, the attack has forced affected stores, such as Starbucks, to revert to pen and paper to manage staff schedules. Around 11,000 Starbucks locations in North America have reportedly felt the impact. Although the coffee chain assured that employees would be paid for all hours worked, the disruption remains a challenging hurdle.

Morrisons confirmed that their warehouse management systems for fresh produce have also been significantly affected. Blue Yonder has brought in outside cybersecurity experts to assist with resolving the incident, but as of now, no timeline for restoring normal operations has been provided. This situation underscores the increasing risks associated with digital supply chain management in today's technology-driven economy.
