In brief
Brunei Fertilizer Industries (BFI) and Muara Port Company (MPC) extended their partnership to streamline the export of granular urea. The new agreements aim to upgrade terminal operations, enhance local economic benefits, and strengthen compliance with international quality and biosecurity standards.
On 3 November, in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Fertilizer Industries (BFI) and Muara Port Company (MPC) signed new agreements to boost logistics for urea exports from the country’s deep‑water Muara Port.
The deal expands the long‑standing partnership between the two companies. Under it, MPC will continue to provide an integrated logistics solution for BFI’s granular urea, covering containerised land transport and terminal handling.
Officials say the upgrade will mean faster turnaround times, lower handling costs and greater reliability for buyers. The extra efficiency is expected to increase local economic benefits and help Brunei’s downstream industrial sector.
Export volumes will still need to meet stringent quality, cleanliness and biosecurity requirements set by importing countries. MPC and BFI said compliance will be maintained at every stage of the logistics chain.
The partnership moves Brunei closer to its goal of becoming a logistics hub for fertilizer in the region, providing better infrastructure and services for its growing export market.
