Safran Landing Systems, a global aerospace company, announced it will spend €136 million to grow its operations in Malaysia. The money will add new manufacturing space and a maintenance centre for carbon‐brake discs near Kuala Lumpur International Airport, in Negeri Sembilan state. The expansion is aimed at answering demand from about 100 airlines in the Asia‑Pacific region, covering major Airbus, Boeing and ATR aircraft.
The new plant will add 7,000 m² of advanced production area and is expected to double the company’s output of carbon‑brake discs by 2028. The site also handles heat‑sink refurbishment, an important component in aircraft braking systems.
Safran noted the facilities will serve fleets that include the Airbus A320, A321 and A350, the Boeing 737, 777 and 787, and ATR models. The company employs 160 people in the current Malaysian site.
By providing new and refurbished carbon‑brake discs, the maintenance centre will help airlines keep their aircraft safe and on schedule. The investment is part of Safran’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the fast‑growing Asia‑Pacific aerospace market.
