In a shocking twist, new buyers of a house in eastern France found a hidden mystery while renovating - the remains of the previous owner, Aloïs Iffly, who vanished in 2009 at the age of 81. The regional newspaper Le Republicain Lorrain reported that the skeletal remains were discovered tucked away in a cubbyhole while the buyers searched for a roof leak. Prosecutor Olivier Glady suggested the scene "hints at suicide," with a rope still hanging in the attic when the body was found on November 2. Aloïs' wife had resided in the home until her passing in 2020, leading to the property's sale in 2023. The new owners' renovation activities uncovered what had been a 15-year-old mystery in Erstroff, a village near Saarbrücken, Germany. The authorities are currently investigating the cause of death, and the remains have been sent to Strasbourg for an autopsy, which may finally reveal what truly happened to Aloïs Iffly.
