Haribo, the beloved gummy candy maker, is in the hot seat as it recalls packets of its popular Happy Cola F!ZZ in the Netherlands. This action comes after several consumers, including a family, reported feeling dizzy and unwell after enjoying the sweets from a 1kg pack.
The Dutch food safety authority, NVWA, alerted the public that some samples of the sweets contained traces of cannabis, which can cause health complications like dizziness when consumed. Three packs were confirmed contaminated, but as a cautious measure, the company is recalling its entire stock.
The specific bags affected by this recall have a best-before date of January 2026. However, there is still confusion surrounding whether the affected products are legitimate Haribo bags or counterfeit.
Haribo is collaborating with local authorities to address the contamination and ensure consumer safety, emphasizing that this recall is solely a precaution in the Netherlands, with all other products remaining safe. The company urges the public to refrain from consuming the recalled sweets and is taking this incident very seriously.
Stay tuned as the investigation unfolds!
