Air India Crash Investigation: Why the Final Report Is Still Pending
A Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed 12 June 2025, 6 km from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, killing 241 passengers and 8 crew and injuring 19 on the ground. The event is still under investigation by the India Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).
On the first anniversary of the disaster the AAIB said it has made "significant progress" in examining fuel system data, flight records and maintenance logs, but the final report will not be released until all evidence is fully analyzed and reviewed internationally.
The probe focuses on technical, operational and human factors rather than assigning blame, aiming to improve aviation safety. Preliminary findings indicated a sudden fuel‑cut that turned the engines off seconds after lift‑off, but the exact cause is still being investigated.
Families of the victims and the sole survivor are waiting for concrete answers. The event has sparked debate over media coverage of pilots and investigative processes.

Stay tuned for updates on the AAIB’s release schedule and how investigators plan to update safety protocols worldwide.
