Israel's military is intensifying its offensive in Gaza, expanding its control over the territory and issuing new evacuation orders for residents recently returning home. This escalation comes after attempts to extend a temporary cease-fire, which began in mid-January, failed.
As of Sunday, Israeli forces have moved into northern Gaza, specifically Beit Hanoun, to create a larger buffer zone. The military has conducted additional airstrikes targeting Hamas infrastructure. Alongside military actions, evacuation orders have been issued for the Tal al-Sultan neighborhood in Rafah, requiring residents to leave on foot due to vehicle movement restrictions.
The Rafah municipality has reported that many families, forced to flee during the holy month of Ramadan, are now homeless and struggling with shortages of essential supplies and tents as crossings into Gaza remain closed by the Israeli government.
