In brief

A brief threat alert was announced for Jizan city in Saudi Arabia at 00:00 UTC on November 7 2026. The alert, issued by the Saudi Civil Defense, was lifted after a few minutes, and officials urged residents not to gather or film. The warning came amid continuing Houthi missile and drone strikes against Saudi territory.

Anadolu Agency reported that at 00:00 UTC on Saturday, November 7 2026, the Saudi Civil Defense announced a "potential danger" in the southwestern city of Jizan. The alert warned residents that a threat might be present and asked them not to gather or film the situation.

Only a few minutes later, the same agency issued a follow‑up message saying the danger had passed. The brief alert was put on hold as the civil defence said the situation had been assessed as no longer urgent.

The announcement comes as Houthi rebels in Yemen continue launching missile and drone attacks toward Saudi territory. The Houthis have controlled parts of Yemen since 2014, and Saudi Arabia has led a coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government since 2015.

Saudi civil‑defence officials emphasized the importance of following official instructions and staying away from crowds during the alert period. Residents were also told not to film or broadcast the potential danger.

Though the alert was brief, it reflected the ongoing tensions in the region. Analysts note that the United Nations trauma of the Yemen crisis contributes to the heightened security posture in Saudi border areas like Jizan.
