By the end of 2025, Singapore’s corporate sector had built a direct investment stock abroad of 1.85 trillion Singapore dollars, which equals about 1.45 trillion U.S. dollars, according to a report released by the Singapore Department of Statistics on Tuesday. The data were reported by Xinhua news agency.
Direct equity investment accounts for 94.3 percent of the total, while net inter‑company lending makes up the remaining 5.7 percent. The report highlights that the top ten destination economies together attracted 64.8 percent of Singapore’s out‑of‑country investment.
The Chinese mainland is the leading recipient, followed by the United Kingdom and India. Together these three economies drew in more than two‑thirds of Singapore’s direct investment abroad in 2025.
Singapore’s direct investment abroad rose 11.8 percent year‑on‑year, reaching the 1.85 trillion‑dollar mark as of the end of 2025. The rise shows that Singaporean firms are expanding their influence worldwide and seeking investment opportunities outside the country.
These figures reveal how Singapore firms are building global ties and providing capital to other economies while diversifying their investment portfolios. The growth in direct equity also signals confidence in foreign markets and a willingness to keep money moving across borders.
