Jake Larson, affectionately known as 'Papa Jake', has passed away at the remarkable age of 102. A World War II veteran, Larson served valiantly in the Allied forces during the D-Day invasion, a critical moment that helped defeat Nazi Germany in 1944. In addition to his military service, he embraced the power of social media later in life, attracting 1.2 million followers on TikTok whom he engaged with through heartfelt stories and memories of his fallen comrades. His granddaughter, McKaela, announced his passing via TikTok, noting that he passed peacefully on July 17, still sharing jokes until the very end. She expressed gratitude for the love and support shown by his fans, echoing his words: "love you all the mostest." Larson, who also battled in the famous Battle of the Bulge, was recognized for his contributions to history last month, co-winning an Emmy Award alongside British-Iranian journalist Christiane Amanpour for an interview commemorating D-Day’s 80th anniversary. As a tribute, McKaela vowed to keep his spirit alive by continuing to share his stories with the world.
