GRAND BLANC, Mich. — A tragic shooting incident took place at a Mormon church in Grand Blanc, Michigan, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to nine others. The shooting occurred during a gathering at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located about 50 miles north of Detroit. Tragically, the suspect is also deceased. Local authorities have assured the community that there is no ongoing threat. The church, surrounded by a parking area and lawns, is situated within a residential neighborhood, bringing the impact of this violence closer to home. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed her condolences, stating, 'Violence anywhere, especially in a place of worship, is unacceptable.' The incident has drawn significant attention as it occurred shortly after the passing of Russell M. Nelson, the church’s beloved former president, at the age of 101.
