Russia launched a volley of ballistic missiles and drones at Ukrainian capital Kyiv last night, ending up with one fatality and at least 12 injuries, according to authorities.
Timur Tkachenko, head of the city’s military administration, said the”enemy is once again massively attacking the Kyiv region” and that residential blocks and warehouses have been hit.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko warned residents of the risk of being trapped under rubble after the strikes, urging everyone to heed air‑raid sirens and protect themselves and their loved ones.
The ancient city has seen a surge of attacks in the past weeks; the most recent wave left a heavily damaged neighbourhood in the Bucha, Brovary and Fastiv districts.
The attack comes after Kyiv’s forces intensified their own raids on Russian civilian infrastructure, including power plants, and targeted depots of Russian e‑commerce giant Wildberries.
In neighboring regions, a Russian drone hit a beach in the Krasnodar area, killing seven and wounding 58 tourists, while Ukrainian forces allegedly chased a man with a drone in Kherson, a move Russia calls a “safari” aimed at civilians.
Both sides deny purposeful targeting of civilians and the Ukrainian government is calling on allies for more U.S.‑made Patriot interceptors to defend against missile attacks.
