A Kenyan High Court has issued an arrest warrant for a British national suspected of murdering a 21-year-old woman more than a decade ago.

Agnes Wanjiru was killed in March 2012, and her body was discovered in a septic tank of a hotel in Nanyuki three months later, following a night out with British soldiers.

Justice Alexander Muteti stated that prosecutors had enough evidence for the suspect to face trial in Kenya.

The family’s lawyer, Kamau Mbiu, expressed relief at the ruling, emphasizing the importance of transparency and public interest in the case.

The identities of the accused and witnesses are to remain confidential to protect the integrity of the trial.

A UK government spokesperson reaffirmed their commitment to justice for Wanjiru's family and mentioned their cooperation with the Kenyan investigation.

Wanjiru left behind a five-month-old daughter, and her family has been fighting for justice since her death.

Wanjiru's niece described the warrant as a bittersweet moment, acknowledging the possible lengthy extradition process. The prosecution assured that witnesses in the UK would be available for trial to expedite proceedings.

Wanjiru’s family’s legal representatives are urging the British Government to facilitate a swift extradition of the accused.
