Users around the globe faced significant problems accessing Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp due to a wide-reaching outage on Meta's platforms. "We're aware that a technical issue is impacting some users' ability to access our apps. We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience," Meta shared on X.

Reports indicate over 22,000 users struggled with Facebook while over 18,000 faced issues with WhatsApp, according to Downdetector, an outage monitoring site. These disruptions have been observed in regions like the UK, parts of Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, and the US.

The difficulties began around 1800 GMT on Wednesday. Users reported various problems, such as not being able to access the apps entirely or experiencing non-refreshing feeds. With Facebook boasting over three billion active monthly users, outages like these impact a substantial portion of the global population.

Notably, Meta experienced its largest downtime in 2021, when founder Mark Zuckerberg issued an apology for a six-hour disruption that affected all of its services, including Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
