Geert Wilders, leader of the far-right Party for Freedom, has pulled his ministers from the Netherlands' ruling coalition, citing a lack of progress on immigration reforms as the driving force behind his decision. This withdrawal marks the beginning of a potential political crisis, as it threatens to topple a government that was just formed less than a year ago.

Wilders expressed his frustrations via X, highlighting his coalition partners' unwillingness to endorse a comprehensive plan aimed at curbing immigration. His party, known for its controversial stance on banning the Quran, shutting down Islamic schools, and pausing asylum applications, had a strong showing in the last elections held in November 2023.

The coalition, which consists of three other right-leaning parties, formed after extensive negotiations totaling seven months. Currently, these four parties collectively hold a majority with 88 out of the 150 seats in the Dutch House of Representatives. As tensions rise, the implications of this withdrawal could lead to an impending election and a significant transformation in Dutch politics.
