For the first time in the courtroom, Charlie Kirk’s family went beside the accused killer on Monday, as the United States prosecutors laid out a case that could bring a death sentence for the 23‑year‑old Tyler Robinson.
Kirk, a 31‑year‑old husband, father and founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University’s campus on September 10 2025. Within two days, law‑enforcement arrested Robinson on charges of aggravated murder, unlawful gun discharge, obstruction of justice and witness tampering.
The family released a statement earlier in the week thanking the community for its support and asking for privacy as the trial proceeds. “Charlie was a loved husband, son, brother, friend and father,” they said, adding that their grief is “deep and enduring.”
Robinson has not yet entered a plea. Prosecutors plan to approach the case with the potential for the death penalty, while the defense seeks to keep the courtroom quiet and wants that possibility removed.
Court hearings began Monday and will run through Friday. Four law‑enforcement witnesses are expected to testify, and the defense has asked the judge to silence the cameras. Now, all eyes are on the court for what could be a pivotal moment in a high‑profiling trial.
