Heart‑shaking rescue turns into legal drama as a toddler reportedly declared dead after a pool drowning is later found alive in a hospital cold room.
On 8 February, an 18‑month‑old boy in Gilbert, Arizona was discovered face‑down in a backyard pool. Family members called 911, and first responders performed CPR before transporting the child to Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
At the hospital, an EMT and physician declared the toddler dead around 18:20 local time. However, five hours later a medical‑examiner transporter from the Maricopa County Office arrived and discovered the child still breathing.
The child was flown to another facility where doctors confirmed a full recovery and he was soon released. The case has prompted a police report that recommends negligence charges against the parents and a potential investigation by the state attorney’s office.
