On Friday, a JetBlue flight en route from Curaçao to New York experienced a near-miss with a U.S. Air Force tanker. The pilot reported to air traffic control that they halted ascent to prevent a midair collision.
“It’s outrageous,” the pilot stated, criticizing the military aircraft for not having its transponder activated. This incident occurred amidst increased U.S. military actions in the Caribbean, likely tied to drug interdiction efforts and geopolitical pressures on Venezuela.
JetBlue confirmed they are cooperating with federal authorities on the investigation, emphasizing the importance of safety and proper communication procedures among all aircraft.
