Rescuers raced through the debris of partially demolished apartment blocks, pulling survivors out of rubble while fires sparked in the wake of the strikes. Kyiv’s top military administrator, Timur Tkachenko, said 46 people were injured, with five children among the wounded.
The rockets struck buildings across the city, and Mayor Vitaly Klitschko reported extensive damage, including fires in several apartment complexes, a warehouse, and a garage workshop. Photographs show charred cars and smoke rising from the wreckage.
Ukraine accuses Moscow of deliberately attacking civilian areas, citing the death of 30 people from earlier strikes last week. Russia claims it targeted military and energy bases in retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy facilities.
Destroyers of power cut off temporarily in Sevastopol in occupied Crimea as the conflict ebbs and flows. Ahead of the NATO meeting, Zelensky urged allies to expedite long‑range missile deliveries, warning that delays could cost lives and embolden Russia.
Zelensky also appealed to the U.S. for licences to manufacture Patriot defense missiles, emphasizing the urgent need for upgraded air defense in the face of continuous bombardments.
