The bodies of four Italian divers who went missing during a scuba diving accident in the Maldives last week have been located, confirmed officials. The divers were found by a joint team of Finnish and Maldivian divers inside a 60-meter-deep cave in Vaavu Atoll. The body of a fifth diver from the group had already been recovered shortly after Thursday's accident. Unfortunately, a Maldivian rescue diver also died on Saturday while searching for the group.

This incident is believed to be one of the worst single diving accidents in the Maldives, a country known for its beautiful coral islands and underwater life. Mohamed Hossain Shareef, a Maldivian government spokesperson, indicated that further dives would be conducted to retrieve the bodies, with plans to recover them over the coming days. It was reported that two of the victims were engaged in research on climate change impacts on biodiversity, while the other divers included family members and a diving instructor.

The circumstances surrounding the incident raised concerns, especially since the divers were diving in difficult weather conditions that prompted a warning for boats and fishermen in the area.
