His Truth Social post declared the launch of “the most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country.” Attackers name specific nations were not given, but the claim ties to the April Operation Economic Fury sanctions program.
The declaration followed the expiration of a 60‑day cease‑fire between the U.S. and Iran, raising concerns about ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent earlier noted the U.S. would isolate Iran with unprecedented sanctions.
Trump singled out oil smuggling, financial swap lines, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries and front companies as potential targets, urging global partners to halt these activities immediately.
The White House and Treasury have so far not responded to inquiries, leaving international allies uncertain about the severity and scope of any forthcoming sanctions.
