Ukrainian Missiles Strike Deep Inside Russia
Ukraine says it launched FP‑5 Flamingo cruise missiles that struck the drone and missile plant in Cheboksary, a city in Russia’s Chuvash Republic more than 900km from the front line.
In the same night, Ukraine also targeted the port of Mariupol, a Russian oil refinery in Samara and a “shadow fleet” tanker in the Black Sea, continuing a long‑running strategy to hit energy infrastructure.
Russian air‑defence units reported intercepting 326 Ukrainian drones, while Ukraine said it downed 181 of the 207 drones fired by Moscow. The clashes left at least two Russians dead and 26 civilians, including two children, injured in Russia.
The Cheboksary strike marks one of the few times Ukrainian forces have hit deep‑inside‑Russia sites, an operation that underscores the ongoing escalation between Kyiv and Moscow and the use of long‑range missile capabilities by Ukraine.
