CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia National Guard member who was shot last week in a brazen daytime attack in Washington, D.C., remains in serious condition but showed positive signs by giving a thumbs-up and wiggling his toes, according to Governor Morrisey. 24-year-old U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe is fighting for his life, while his family has asked for prayers. Tragically, fellow Guard member U.S. Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in the shooting. Authorities are investigating the motivation behind the attack. Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.
