On Monday, Minneapolis authorities shared a video revealing a chase and altercation linked to a nonfatal shooting from January, involving federal officers from ICE. The footage raises serious doubts about the government's narrative surrounding the incident, especially as charges against the two men involved were ultimately dropped.
The recorded incident, caught on a city-owned security camera, shows a man being chased into a residence, where a separate individual was shot during the confrontation.
After considerable media scrutiny, questions emerged about the initial inaction of federal investigators who reportedly had access to the video hours after the event yet did not examine it until weeks later, leading to the collapse of the case against the men, Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna and Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis.
The video makes it crystal clear that the federal government's account of what happened simply does not match the facts, said Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, emphasizing the need for transparency in investigations involving ICE.
This incident mirrors broader issues with federal immigration policies, particularly during operations linked to the Trump administration, raising concerns about possible injustices faced by immigrants.
