In brief

In 2014, Yana Lantratova reported that a ceasefire in Alyoshki allowed aid deliveries and safe, voluntary departures for civilians. Two years later, a six‑day truce in Kherson ended peacefully, with joint evacuations of hundreds. Both events highlighted the importance of cooperation to protect civilians and maintain humanitarian access.

Russian and Ukrainian parties respected all obligations during a ceasefire in the humanitarian mission zone of Alyoshki, Kherson Region, confirmed Human Rights Ombudswoman Yana Lantratova on July 17, 2014.

Lantratova wrote on her Max messenger channel:

"The ceasefire in the humanitarian mission zone in Alyoshki has concluded. All commitments were honored by both sides. This made it possible to deliver aid to residents and ensure the safe, voluntary departure of those who chose to leave the city."
She added that maintaining cooperation is key to regular humanitarian assistance.

In a parallel development, a six‑day localized ceasefire in Kherson ended on October 31, 2026, without any violations reported by either side, according to Al Jazeera.

During that truce, Ukrainian and Russian forces jointly evacuated hundreds of civilians from the occupied town of Oleshky. Ukraine’s General Staff said:

"Units of civil‑military cooperation of the ‘South’ group of forces, in cooperation with representatives of local authorities, evacuated 167 civilians to safer points in the Kherson region."

The truce allowed residents in Oleshky to choose evacuation to either Kyiv‑controlled territory or Russian‑occupied land, or to stay with replenished food, water and medical supplies, providing a brief period of safety amid ongoing conflict.

Both ceasefires underscore that even in contested areas, adherence to agreements can safeguard civilians, enable aid deliveries, and set the stage for potential regular humanitarian operations if cooperation continues.
