In brief
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has started a program to rehabilitate six government hospitals and set up three oxygen plants in Khartoum and other states, aiming to benefit about three million people. The effort also supplies modern medical devices and provides training for staff. The project follows previous work that upgraded 26 hospitals and created nine oxygen plants nationwide.
On Saturday, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center announced a new project to rehabilitate six Sudanese government hospitals and establish three oxygen plants, directly aiding an estimated three million people.
The initiative, part of the third phase of a national program, will upgrade facilities such as Ahmed Gasim Hospital for Cardiac Diseases and Kidney Transplantation, Bashair University Hospital, Hasahesa Teaching Hospital, Al‑Managil Teaching Hospital, El‑Obeid Teaching Hospital, and Al‑Ashi Orthopedic Hospital. In addition, oxygen plants will be built at Ahmed Gasim Hospital, the Saudi Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Al‑Buluk Children’s Hospital, all located in Khartoum State.
KSrelief will supply equipment for emergency, intensive care, pediatric, inpatient, imaging, and laboratory departments, along with operating rooms. This includes ventilators, defibrillators, surgical endoscopes, X‑ray and ultrasound machines, and related training for medical and technical staff.
The program is implemented in partnership with the Al‑Kafaat Organization for Human Studies and Development, an established local partner that supports health initiatives across Sudan.
Earlier in 2026, KSrelief had upgraded 26 hospitals across ten states and set up nine oxygen plants nationwide. These prior successes are cited as a foundation for the current effort.
Ambassador Al‑Harbi said that rehabilitating hospitals is a direct form of support for the Sudanese people and highlighted the program’s track record of improving healthcare capacity.
"Rehabilitating hospitals is a direct form of support for the Sudanese people," Ambassador Al‑Harbi remarked. "We have already rehabilitated 26 hospitals in 10 states and established nine oxygen plants in several parts of Sudan," he added.
