In brief

In 2026, Kazakhstan collected 24.3 million tonnes of grain, the most since 2011. Grain exports rose 9 % to 1.657 million tonnes from September through early October, and the two-year total of 15.5 million tonnes and 16 million tonnes in grain equivalents set record highs. The push highlights the country’s growing agricultural output and global trading role.

On Oct. 30, the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture announced that the country harvested 24.3 million tonnes of grain in 2026, the highest level in 15 years and matching only two previous remarkable harvests.

The harvest comes as Kazakhstan expands its grain exports. From September to 19 Oct., the national railway operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy reported 1.657 million tonnes of grain exported, a 9 % increase over the same period last year.

Over the two marketing years—September 2024 to August 2025 and September 2025 to August 2026—the ministry recorded exports of 15.5 million tonnes and 16 million tonnes of grain and flour in grain‑equivalent terms. Both amounts are the highest since the country gained independence.

These figures demonstrate Kazakhstan’s growing role as a grain producer and exporter, strengthening its food security and economic ties with trading partners.
