The initiative hopes to grow visitor numbers while creating wide‑span economic benefits.

The Maldives launched its new global tourism campaign, "Visit Maldives Year 2027 – Celebrate the Sunny Side," at the World Travel Market in London. The move was announced by Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen on November 4, ahead of the event’s trade‑partner sessions.

The campaign comes after President Mohamed Muizzu named 2027 a milestone year to accelerate growth in the country’s tourism sector. Ameen said the program would promote Maldivian identity, heritage and hospitality while strengthening the country’s position in the global tourism market.

Abdulla Yasir, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, explained that the initiative will create more inclusive economic opportunities by linking the island’s luxury resort sector with local island communities. He added that the program will attract visitors from both established and emerging markets.

The multi‑year plan will include international roadshows, cultural showcases and targeted marketing campaigns aimed at expanding tourist arrivals and increasing community participation in the industry. Through these efforts, the Maldives hopes to boost visitor numbers, strengthen its global standing, and bring broader economic benefits to its islands.
