French police have detained over 20 individuals amidst a wave of kidnapping plots aimed at cryptocurrency entrepreneurs and their families. These actions follow investigations into several abduction attempts, including a recent incident in Nantes and a concerning attempt in Paris involving a woman and child.

The rise in these kidnappings has alarmed many, as wealthy individuals in the crypto space become prime targets for ransom demands. French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau has promised to increase security measures for crypto executives and their families following these shocking events.

A total of 24 arrests were reported, notably related to a failed attempt on May 13 to kidnap the daughter and young grandson of Pierre Noizat, a prominent figure in the French Bitcoin scene. Police thwarted another planned kidnapping in Nantes, showcasing their proactive response to these threats.

Previous kidnappings, including that of the father of a crypto millionaire, have raised concerns, with substantial ransom demands reported. This disturbing trend mirrors the earlier abduction of David Balland, co-founder of cryptocurrency firm Ledger, and underscores the urgent need for protective measures.

In response to the escalating situations, Minister Retailleau convened an emergency meeting with industry leaders to assure them that the government is committed to tackling these violent crimes with all available resources.
