Russian officials said they destroyed the drones and damaged Ukrainian energy infrastructure, while President Zelenskyy reported wide‑scale outages in Kyiv and surrounding areas.
Three civilians were killed in Russia’s Belgorod region after Ukrainian drone strikes, local authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
The attacks also caused power outages in several Ukrainian cities and parts of Russia‑occupied Crimea.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said"Russia’s overnight attacks damaged power generation facilities and substations in nine regions leaving emergency outages in many cities."

Russia’s Defence Ministry confirmed on Telegram that it hit two power stations in Ukraine’s Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions.
This struck a critical point in the energy grid, leading to hours‑long outages of power and water across Kyiv and its suburbs. Residents were urged to use public drinking water fountains while emergency centres offered hot tea and power points for recharging devices.
In addition, power outages were reported in Crimea, where Russia seized the peninsula in 2014. Russia’s Ministry of Energy said Ukrainian strikes hit energy infrastructure overnight and that temporary outage schedules were in force, though it did not specify how many households were affected.
Reports also indicated that Russia‑held Crimea ordered power cuts after an accident outside the region, according to a Moscow‑installed official cited by Reuters.
Both sides have reported losses but also claimed successes: Russian officials alleged they destroyed the drones and targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
