Billionaire Elon Musk and Prince Andrew are named in new files released by Congressional Democrats that relate to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The files turned over to the House Oversight Committee by the Jeffrey Epstein Estate appear to show that Musk had been invited to the financier's island in December 2014.
Separately, a manifest for a flight from New Jersey to Florida in May 2000 names the Duke of York among the passengers. Musk and Prince Andrew have been approached for comment.
Prince Andrew has previously strenuously denied any wrongdoing, while Musk has claimed he declined Epstein's invitation.
The records include various documents like phone logs and flight manifests. They also mention other prominent figures such as Peter Thiel and Steve Bannon. Notably, one entry states a reminder about Musk's invitation to the island, further highlighted by redacted references to payments for massages linked to 'Andrew'.
While it remains unclear who 'Andrew' refers to, it coincides with Prince Andrew's visits to the US during 2000 and has sparked further scrutiny surrounding his past associations with Epstein. The documents have led to calls for more transparency and investigation into Epstein’s network.
Despite the revelations, it is stated that none of the individuals mentioned were allegedly aware of Epstein's criminal activities. Epstein, who died by suicide in jail while awaiting trial for sex trafficking, has left a tangled legacy of connections with influential individuals.
Sara Guerrero from the Democrats urged for further disclosures, emphasizing the need for justice for Epstein’s victims, while Republican committee members criticized the handling of the files.
