12‑Year Marriage Captivity Ends: French Woman Rescued in Pakistan

Police in Pakistan arrested a man who kept his wife and five children in a cramped home, abusing them for over a decade.

Sylvie Yasmina, a French national, says her husband assaulted and imprisoned the family since moving to Pakistan from Australia in 2014.

One son, trying to escape, raised a police report which prompted a raid on the house in Bara, a remote town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Police found the family in a dilapidated room, bruised and silent, and took them to a women‑shelter in Peshawar.

Authorities plan to relocate the children and mother back to France after they receive medical and legal support.

The case exposes how abuse can be hidden for years outside the reach of local legal systems, especially when families have been relocated across borders.
