⚡️ Ras Laffan Explosion: 13 people died and 66 were injured after a blast at Qatar’s biggest gas plant.


The incident happened above the Barzan local gas supply facility in Ras Laffan, Qatar’s largest LNG export hub.



  • City skyline lit orange as the explosion shook windows across Doha.

  • Energy Minister Saad Sherida al‑Kaabi said it was a “technical accident” – no sabotage.

  • Most victims were workers from India and Pakistan.

  • The plant had stopped production in March for maintenance and restarted two days before the blast.

  • Repair will cut output by 12.8m tons of LNG for 3‑5 years.


Qatar’s QatEner plans to assess the cause and minimise safety risks. While the blast was contained, operations may resume slowly.
