In the early hours of Monday, Indianapolis councilman Ron Gibson and his 8-year-old son were startled awake by multiple gunshots ringing out near their front door. The violent act left 13 bullet holes and a threatening note declaring No Data Centers on their doorstep. Thankfully, both father and son were unharmed. Gibson expressed his outrage, stating, This was not just an attack on my home, but endangered my child and disrupted the safety of our entire neighborhood.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police reported that officers found evidence of gunshots at the Gibson residence but confirmed no injuries. The incident is being investigated as a targeted attack, with the FBI now involved.
Gibson linked the shooting to his support for a recent zoning decision allowing a data center development in his district, which has faced significant community opposition. I understand that public service can bring strong opinions and disagreement, but violence is never the answer, he asserted. Despite the threat, Gibson remains committed to serving his constituents with integrity.
