President Donald Trump is set to attend the US Open men's singles final on Sunday, marking his first appearance at the Grand Slam tennis event since 2015.

Trump, who was re-elected in 2024 for a second term in office, hasn't visited the New York City tournament since taking office in 2016. He has previously attended the event multiple times, including his last visit where he was accompanied by his wife Melania.

A White House official confirmed that Trump is expected to be present at the event. The former president was greeted by tennis legend John McEnroe during his last visit.

At 79 years old, Trump was born in the Queens borough of New York City, making this tournament particularly significant as it is held at Flushing Meadows, close to his roots.

Interestingly, there will be no American players competing in the men’s final this year, which is scheduled to start at 14:00 (19:00 BST) on Sunday. The finalists will be determined by Friday's matches, featuring Novak Djokovic against Carlos Alcaraz, followed by Jannik Sinner facing Felix Auger-Aliassime.
