Bondi Beach hero Ahmed al Ahmed takes a fresh win

Ahmed, who tackled one of the shooters during the deadly gun‑fire at a Jewish event on 29 Dec 2023, had police drop the domestic‑violence and stalking charges that followed a March dispute with his father.

The charges were withdrawn after Ahmed agreed to a 12‑month restraint order limiting his contact with his dad. “I’m a free man,” he told reporters outside the courthouse, hoping for peace.

The Bondi disaster, declared a terrorist act, left 15 dead. Ahmed’s bravery drew worldwide attention, sparking a fundraiser that raised more than AU$2.5 m for his support and a bedside visit from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Meanwhile, two of Ahmed’s brothers are now facing charges for threatening the hero and attempting to siphon the donations he received.
