A man in Norway had an unforgettable start to his day when he discovered a massive cargo ship in his front garden. The 135-meter-long NCL Salten, which travels under a Cypriot flag, went off course while navigating the Trondheim Fjord and crashed just meters from Johan Helberg's house around 05:00 local time. Helberg was only alerted to the unusual situation by his neighbor, Jostein Jorgensen, who heard the ship approaching at high speed.

Jorgensen recalls ringing Helberg’s doorbell repeatedly before resorting to a phone call to ensure he was safe. Upon realizing the ship's presence, Helberg expressed his astonishment at the sight. "I had to bend my neck to see the top of it. It was so unreal," he told the Guardian.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the 16 crew members on board. The cause of the accident remains unclear, and an investigation by Norwegian police is ongoing. Helberg took the incident in stride, humorously remarking that his new bulky neighbor will soon be leaving the area. It’s worth noting that the NCL Salten had previously run aground earlier in 2023 but managed to free itself at the time.
