Estonia has confirmed that a NATO fighter jet shot down a drone believed to be a Ukrainian projectile that was knocked off course by Russian electronic jamming. According to Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur, a Romanian F-16 fired a missile, and the drone debris landed in a marshy area without causing any damage.

Ukraine responded by accusing Russia of deliberately redirecting its drones aimed at legitimate military targets, apologizing to Estonia and other Baltic states for the incident. This has not been the first such occurrence, as previous statements indicated increased drone activity and cross-border incidents involving Ukraine and the Baltic nations, heightening concerns in the region.

Local media reported that the downed drone crashed about 30 meters from residential buildings in a forest area.

In light of the incident, there is growing anxiety among the Baltic states about potential provocations from Moscow, and calls for vigilance as NATO countries enhance their military presence in the area.
