Netanyahu Rejects Trump’s Gaza Plan

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israel will not pull troops out of Gaza until Hamas is fully disarmed, rejecting US President Donald Trump’s 15‑point peace plan.

Trump greets Netanyahu at the White House

The Board of Peace, set up by Trump, claims to have secured a deal with Hamas that calls for the group’s complete disarmament, and for Israeli forces to withdraw afterward. Hamas says it will hand over weapons only if Israel ends all aggression and leaves Gaza entirely.

Netanyahu’s cabinet flagged that any military pull‑out would be phased and only after verifiable disarmament. He also said he is talking with US officials, but is wary of concessions due to pressure from his right‑wing coalition ahead of elections.

The Gaza war, which began after a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, has left over 73 000 people dead and displaced 1.9 million residents. The ceasefire agreement signed last October remains fragile.

While the US-backed plan remains the only proposed pathway toward lasting peace, Israeli officials continue to clash over where the line between security and diplomacy should be drawn.
