Tram drivers across the world gathered in Vienna to showcase their skills at the first-ever Tram Driver World Championship, with events including tram bowling and curling.
The championship saw drivers from locations like Hong Kong, Rio de Janeiro, and San Diego compete in various challenges, highlighting the unique and fun side of tram operations.
Austria's very own Florijan Isaku emerged as the winner, leaving him speechless amidst a cheering crowd celebrating the 160th anniversary of trams in Vienna.
Among the challenges were unique tasks where drivers had to smooth their braking with a bowl of water attached to their trams, as well as a hilarious tram bowling event using a giant ball to knock inflatable pins.
While Austria triumphed, Poland came in second place and Norway in third. On the flip side, reigning European champions Hungary faced disappointment, learning that speed alone isn’t the ticket to victory.
Next year’s European championships are set to roll into Warsaw, Poland.
