Welcome to Cake Picnic, Sydney edition! This viral event has already taken major cities like San Francisco and London by storm, and now it's our turn! With over 1,600 cakes displayed, this Melbourne-born concept dazzles Sydney in a colorful, tasty takeover.

Elisa Sunga, a part-time baker and full-time Google employee, began this journey with a simple gathering invitation requiring each guest to bring a cake. The response? Nearly 200 attendees with 180 cakes devoured!

Now, Sydney's Botanical Garden buzzed with over 500 cake lovers, eager to share their creations and dive into sweet treats. Among the vibrant crowd, home bakers to professional chefs mingled, each showcasing their sugary masterpieces.

With cakes at least 20cm wide and 7.5cm high, highlights included towering creations and funky flavors like matcha-strawberry and pandan. It’s a feast of creativity, connection, and just plain fun.

In a big city, this is the type of thing we should be doing, says one participant, enjoying cakes and sharing recipes with their peers. Until AI can bake, this delightful event proves just how sweet community can be when we come together to celebrate!”
