Vice‑President J.D. Vance took to the popular Joe Rogan podcast to slam a faction of Israeli officials, saying they’re "trying to change American public opinion" to keep the Iran war running.

Vance said he trusts some inside Israel but "there are others who are manipulating and trying to change American public opinion to keep the war going on indefinitely." He added that Israel was "derailing" talks with Iran and has "exact evidence" that some leaders hate the deal.

The U.S. reached a new memorandum of understanding with Iran last month, but tensions over the Strait of Hormuz reignited, with U.S. forces striking Iranian targets and Tehran attacking U.S. allies in the Gulf. Vance has been a key player in negotiations, attending talks in Pakistan in April and signing the MOU in Switzerland in June.

Israel’s stance is clear: it sees Iran as an existential threat and wants a complete dismantling of Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, plus regime change. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives blocked a move to slash billions of dollars in aid to Israel, reflecting a shift even within the Democratic Party.

According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the president would "certainly agree" that foreign countries try to persuade American public opinion.

Vance’s latest criticism marks a growing rift between U.S. and Israel, as Trump‑era allies pressure to end the conflict while the Biden administration balances diplomacy and the fight for regional stability.
