As the convoy advances towards the border, Mustafa Al Qadri, a driver in the mission, is filled with pride. “We are carrying aid like food and medication for our brothers in Gaza,” he emphasizes, capturing the profound connection many Jordanians feel towards the Palestinian people.

On this sunny winter morning, the convoy comprises 120 trucks – the largest since the conflict intensified in October 2023. Essential items like food, medicine, and fuel are crucial as the humanitarian situation in Gaza deteriorates, with 90% of its 2.2 million residents relying on aid.

Yet, the journey is not without obstacles. The convoy must pass through Israeli customs at the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge and then navigate through challenging realities, including blocked roads by settlers and dangerous conditions posed by armed gangs. Still, the atmosphere among the drivers is hopeful and determined.

King Abdullah II’s leadership has played a pivotal role in rallying support for Gaza, bolstered by a promise from the international community for increased aid once a ceasefire is established. Meanwhile, at food distribution centers in Gaza, families like 10-year-old Farah's are waiting for their turn, showcasing the dire need for assistance.

“The humanitarian situation is at catastrophic levels,” warns UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Amidst the ongoing struggle, hope persists as aid efforts continue to unfold, signaling that Gazans are not forgotten as preparations ramp up for more deliveries.

With the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation ready to mobilize further, the world watches and awaits a moment of peace that will finally allow for a full opening of aid access to Gaza.
