A tragic plane crash in Nairobi, Kenya, has left six people dead after a light aircraft, operated by the charity Amref Flying Doctors, went down shortly after takeoff from Wilson Airport. The Cessna aircraft was heading to Hargeisa in Somalia when it lost contact with air traffic control just three minutes into the flight. Local official Kiambu County Commissioner Henry Wafula confirmed that four individuals onboard, including healthcare professionals and the pilot, perished. Additionally, two people on the ground also lost their lives, with two others reporting serious injuries.

Eyewitness Patricia Kombo described the horrifying scene, recalling a loud bang followed by a flash of red light, and the subsequent sight of smoke rising from the crash site. In response, the Kenya Defence Forces and National Police Service have mobilized to carry out search and recovery efforts. Amref's CEO Stephen Gitau stated that they are fully cooperating with aviation authorities to investigate the incident further. This accident comes amidst another tragic event in central Kenya, where a collision between a train and bus claimed at least four lives. The nation remains in shock as these incidents unfold.
