China has executed four members of the Bai family mafia, a notorious criminal dynasty involved in running scam centers in Myanmar, according to state media reports. These individuals were part of a larger group of 21 family members and associates convicted of various crimes, including fraud, homicide, and injury. This conviction was made by a Guangdong province court, which had previously sentenced five family members to death, including the clan patriarch, Bai Suocheng, who died of an illness post-conviction.
Recently, China has escalated its actions against such crime syndicates, as demonstrated by the execution of 11 members from another mafia family, emphasizing a crackdown on scam operations that have deceived thousands of Chinese victims. The Bai family's crimes extended over years in Laukkaing, where they ran casinos and cyberscam operations controlled by their own militia. Their activities led to the deaths of several individuals and included widespread violence within their compounds.
With Beijing's recent executions, the message to potential scammers is clear: China's government is determined to deter organized crime and restore order, especially concerning the trafficking and exploitation that has affected many, including thousands of Chinese people victimized by these scams.
