The Trump administration has appointed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and former UK Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair as founding members of its newly established 'Board of Peace' for Gaza. Key figures like Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the president's son-in-law, are also included in the board, which is set to oversee Gaza's governance and reconstruction efforts post-conflict.

Trump's leadership on this board is part of a larger 20-point plan designed to bring a resolution to the ongoing tensions between Israel and Hamas. The board aims to temporarily manage Gaza's affairs while preparing for future reconstruction efforts.

The founding executive board comprises several influential members, including World Bank chief Ajay Banga and private equity head Marc Rowan, each assigned critical portfolios for Gaza's stabilization and recovery.

Trump has touted this board as the 'Greatest and Most Prestigious Board ever assembled at any time, any place', vowing to add more members as efforts progress. In conjunction with this initiative, a separate Palestinian technocratic committee, the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), has been formed for day-to-day governance.

Nickolay Mladenov, a former UN Middle East envoy, will serve as the board’s representative in Gaza, working alongside the NCAG. Trump's peace plan, now in its second phase following a ceasefire agreement last October, includes goals such as the disarmament of Hamas and the establishment of a robust security framework.

Despite this ambitious peace plan, the ceasefire remains fragile, and humanitarian conditions in Gaza are critical, highlighting the urgent need for continued support and clear strategies for peace and recovery.
